Scholarships

Leonardo has been awarded a WWDC scholarship in 2025. Here is the submission that got him there.

In 2025, applicants were tasked with creating an interactive app playground on the topic of their choice to showcase their passion for coding. Here’s how Leonardo describes his winning submission.

For my winning submission, I created a game to help chess players improve their board visualization skills. It features different modes, including one based on speech recognition. For this, I fine-tuned a opensource model (wav2vec2) on nearly 2,500 audio files of spoken chess coordinates, contributed by fellow students, friends, and family. My submission is now live on testflight: https://www.tellmate.io
