In 2024, applicants were tasked with creating an interactive app playground on the topic of their choice to showcase their passion for coding. New for 2024, 50 Distinguished Winners were recognized for their outstanding submissions and invited to Apple in Cupertino. Here’s how Mirelle describes her winning submission.

My project, titled “Hidden Stories,” seeks to do justice to the women who made significant discoveries in the fields of science and technology but were forgotten by history due to the sexist context in which they lived. My hope is that more girls feel supported and represented by the incredible discoveries of these women, just as I was inspired, motivating me to pursue a career in technology.
