In 2025, applicants were tasked with creating an interactive app playground on the topic of their choice to showcase their passion for coding. Here’s how yaejee describes her winning submission.
Music is often seen as something that belongs only to hearing culture, and Deaf people have had little opportunity to learn about it. One Deaf person once told me, "I want to know what a music scale is," and "I want to know what harmony is." That inspired me to create an application that helps them understand music scales and harmony through visual expression. I used piano keys and simple visuals to help users understand notes and chords more intuitively.
